Application Overview

On October 10, 2026, a Quicksilver Activ 705 powered by a PARSUN D200 200 hp diesel outboard underwent on-water testing in Dapeng Bay, Pingtung, Taiwan.

Measuring 7.05 meters in length and 2.48 meters in beam, the boat carried five people in calm sea conditions. The team recorded boat speed and instantaneous fuel consumption at different engine speeds, providing a practical reference for cruising efficiency and higher-speed operation.

Recorded Performance

At 3,000 RPM, the D200 propelled the boat at 21 knots with fuel consumption of 21.9 L/h, equivalent to approximately 1.04 liters per nautical mile.

At this operating point, a theoretical 50-nautical-mile passage would take approximately 2.38 hours and consume around 52.1 liters of diesel. This calculated example provides a reference for route planning and fuel budgeting, particularly for passenger trips, boat rentals, and other frequent-use applications.

At 4,000 RPM, the boat reached 31 knots with fuel consumption of 45.0 L/h, equivalent to approximately 1.45 liters per nautical mile.

Fuel consumption per nautical mile is calculated by dividing hourly fuel consumption by boat speed in knots. The two operating points help illustrate the balance between passage time and fuel use.

Fuel Consumption Reference

To provide additional context, the D200 test results were compared with publicly available Quicksilver performance information for an Activ 705 powered by a 200 hp gasoline outboard.

At approximately 21–22 knots, the D200 recorded diesel consumption of 21.9 L/h, compared with 44.0 L/h for the gasoline outboard in the published reference. Based on these figures, the D200’s hourly fuel consumption by volume was approximately 50.2% lower.

At 31 knots, the D200 recorded 45.0 L/h. The gasoline reference was estimated at approximately 70.5 L/h using Quicksilver’s published cruising and full-throttle data. Against that estimated value, the D200’s hourly fuel consumption by volume was approximately 36.2% lower.

Why the Setup Fits

For owners who spend extended periods on the water, fuel consumption per nautical mile provides a practical basis for assessing operating efficiency.

On this Quicksilver Activ 705, the D200 delivered 21-knot cruising at approximately 1.04 L/NM, alongside a recorded speed of 31 knots at 4,000 RPM. These results give owners a reference for selecting an operating speed according to their route, schedule, and fuel budget.

The Pingtung test adds a documented D200 application to PARSUN’s case portfolio, with recorded results tied to a specific boat, passenger load, and sea conditions.
